The Moonstone (Enchantment #1) – Evelyne Contant

I can’t tell you how happy I am that I’ve decided to give this book a try. I loved everything about the story, and the characters.

Do not stop until you get to 1/3 of the book! Once you cross that threshold you won’t be able to put it down. That’s exactly what happened to me, for a few days I was walking everywhere with my nose in my tablet!

It’s difficult to describe this story without giving out crucial parts of the plot, and believe me, you don’t want me to spoil ANYTHING. The book is filled with eccentric characters and peculiar mythical creatures. The author created a fascinating world of magic, which we can gradually discover through the eyes of Lou Mills, an enchantress raised by humans.

Her transformation is at the centre of the story. At first, Lou is a regular girl with a passion for books and mythology, completely unaware of her destiny, and the mysterious world surrounding her. Once she discovers her true identity and that of the people in her life, she begins her journey to master her new acquired skills, and retrieve a magical object that only she is capable of finding.

I am especially happy there is an epic romance in this story as well! Lou finds herself between two strong and possessive men, one human and one magical, each representing a different world, so distinct, yet both equally alluring. Up until the last page you can’t be completely sure of who is a friend, and who is just pretending in order to take advantage of Lou and her special gifts.

It’s been a while since I read a story that consumed me so completely. I cannot wait to read the next instalment in the series, and find out what becomes of Lou and her friends!

  1. I like your book with the lights coming out. We are celebrating our 25th year of a summer reading program entitle: “25 Years of Enchanted Reading” I would like permission to use the graphic for a t-shirt for our 389 students who are honored at an evening event. What say ye?
Look at my district website to find my library department website. Thank you, and I hope to hear from you soon.
