Once upon a time…
there was a Cinderella, who owned a bakery/cafe, and baked pies all night every night, leaving absolutely no time for love, sex, and socialising in general.
Enters Prince Not-so-charming, although drop-dead gorgeous, cocky and… full of himself.
That’s how this modern fairy tale starts, and it gets even more entertaining as you read along. The writing is brilliant, so funny I laughed out loud at some of the descriptions (especially the parts about the dog). As with all fairy tales happy ending is a given, but it isn’t as obvious as you may think, so I’ll just leave it at that.
All I can say is let your imagination loose with this one; beautiful gowns, ridiculously huge palaces, private jets, life in the spotlight and everything else you think royalty is like.
My favourite character in the book is the Queen, bad ass and so hilariously uptight. Nicholas’s description of her is so funny, it’s difficult to tell if he actually loves or hates her. Just read this:
I would recommend it to anyone, who enjoys a modern fairy tale with a happy ending.
