Now bear with me while I catch my breath and try to explain what was it about this book that got me all worked up. Well, bloody everything! This story has got everything I like, stepbrother romance, strong female character and lots of intrigue and drama. And, most important of all, not just one hottie, but five! Yes, five Royal brothers. I predict many, many instalments to this series in the future. But let’s concentrate on this book for now.
Ella, raised only by her mother and a long parade of her mother’s boyfriends, moved around the country, never staying too long in one place. After her mother’s death, she finds a job as a stripper to put herself through school. That’s when Callum Royal comes into her life, claiming to be her guardian and her ‘saviour’.
From the life on the streets and everyday struggle to make ends meet, Ella finds herself in a completely new world, which she needs to learn how to navigate to survive. This new world belongs to the rich and the spoiled and it’s ruled by Reed Royal (the second oldest of the Royal brothers).
‘You should know whatever game you’re playing, you can’t win. Not against all of us.
If you leave now, you won’t be hurt. If you stay, we’ll break you so bad that you’ll be crawling away.’
– Reed Royal
Fortunately, Ella is a survivor, and she knows what it’s like to fight for the things others take for granted. She’s learned to use her looks and appearance like a shield to protect herself from people like Reed and his brothers. However, her skills turn out to be useless, when it comes to Reed. All of a sudden, after all these years, Ella is ready to trust someone and believe that this new world she found herself in might be the place for her after all.
